Breathing well just doesn't happen

The moment you begin breathing well is the moment you begin supporting your body's functions. And the moment you join your own health care team, moving toward vibrant great health

To begin, take a few seconds to observe your style of breathing. Do you breathe into the top or bottom of your chest or into your abdomen? Do you take in a lot of air, or are you more like your family dog, relying on a panting style of breath? Do you breathe into the front of your body, the sides or into your back? Do you fully empty your lungs before the next breath? Do you hold your breath when stressed?

It is so important to understand that you can teach your automatic breathing better habits by doing Buteyko breathing exercises every day. Gradually your breathing improves, no matter how busy you get. To begin - spend a few minutes each day taking gentle quiet breaths

There is no rush, so inhale slowly, and feel as if you are filling your belly and back. Then let the air out gradually. Repeat often, particularly during times of stress.

This style of powerful breathing each day will over time make a huge difference in the quality of your automatic breathing. Combine breathing and exercise and you feel vibrant, alive and relaxed.

Sleep deprivation is rampant...

A large part of the problem is due to our high paced lifestyle causing the lack of time to get the sleep we need. The other reason people are sleep deprived is due to sleeping disorders. Many people are unaware of the problem, as are their doctors.
So what is a 'Sleep Debt'?
When you do not get the sleep you need, you begin to build up a sleep debt. So if you are losing one hour of sleep a day during the week, by Friday you have a 5 hour sleep debt. We usually make up for this by sleeping in on Saturday and Sunday.
It can make for a dangerous Friday night if the person driving has a sleep debt, especially if they drink alcohol on top of it. Sleep debt is caused by not having enough time to get the sleep you need, or is due to a sleep disorder which disrupts sleep.
Buteyko breathing therapy helps to 'right the balance', overcoming the symptoms of snoring, sleep apnoea and insomnia, and also by easing stress-related disorders, thus ensuring a good nights sleep
